Business overview

Omkar Chemicals was formed in the year 1983 with capacity of 6 MT per annum for manufacture of molybdenum derivatives. At the time of takeover in June, 2005, the installed capacity was 318 MT and the product range was cobalt, selenium & iodine derivatives in addition to molybdenum deriv atives. Duri ng the year 2006 -07, our Company expanded the total installed capacity to 325 MT which was further increased to 375 MT during the year 2007-08 . Today our total installed capacity increased to 750 MT. Our Company has recently set up a new manufacturi ng facility at B-34, MIDC, Badlapur, Thane, Maharashtra viz. Unit 3 with an installed capacity of 200 MT. The commercial production at Unit 3 is likely to start in the month of M arch, 2011. With the set up of Unit 3, our total installed ca pacity stands increased to 950 MT Our Company is mainly engaged in the manufacture and sale of speciality chemicals viz. selenium compounds, iodine compounds, molybdenum compounds etc. and pharma intermediates viz. Potassium Iodate, Bism uth Ammonium Citrate, Bromoform etc. Our Strength Multi product capability - Our Company has a diverse product range comprising a mix of organic, inorganic and organo inorganic intermediates Our Company’s product portfolio comprises of more than 90 products in these segments. The products include inorganic intermediates like derivatives of Molybdenum, Selenium, Iodine, Cobalt, and Bismuth ; organic intermediates likeTartaric acid derivatives and various other organo inorganic intermediates like Iodobenzene Diacetate, Dess Martin Periodinane, Vanadyl Sulphate etc. Customer base - We have a div erse customer base from different industry segments like pharmaceutical, chemical, glass, cosmetics, ceramic pigments, etc. Further, we export our products to vari ous countries in Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Australia. We focus on expanding our custo mer base by catering to the requir ements of customers from various industry segments. Cost advantage - We beli eve that we have developed processes for manufacture of pro ducts in a c ost effective manner. Our R & D team is continuously worki ng on the p rocesses for our existing products in order to improve the produc tion with optimum utilization of resources and cost saving. This provides us a competitive edge over others and helps us to widen our customer base. Our quality control - We have quality control departments at our Unit 1 and Unit 2 each, the activities of which comprise of collection a nd preparation of sam ples, testing of raw materials and other process inputs inspection, testing and quality certification of finished products, preparation of technical information sheet and issue of certificate of ana lysis. Our quality control laboratory is equipped with various equipments such as High Performance Liquid Chromatographs (HPLC), Gas Chromatographs (GCs), vacuum dryer, sonicator, Atomic Absorp ti on Spectroscopy (AAS), spectrophotometer, etc. Our Unit 2 has been granted ISO 9001 :2008 for its quality management systems.
