GIS Lounge is an information portal primarily relating to the field of geographic information systems. The purpose of this site is to provide introductory text for issues relating to GIS as well as interesting news items, tips, and resources for the geospatial field. This site is run by Caitlin Dempsey Morais. “GIS is a powerful tool to help record, analyze and map spatial data. I’m here to help you learn more about GIS and how to use its amazing applications to benefit your work. GIS isn’t just for geographers, it’s for everyone.” Experience: Caitlin started out in the GIS field as an intern for the National Park Service headquartered in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Before moving to municipal GIS she was a GIS analyst for a natural resource agency located in Topanga, California. In addition to her work with GIS Lounge, Caitlin Dempsey Morais is the owner of DM Geographics, LLC, a consulting firm.
